Robyn Chachula has, once again, masterfully put together a stunning array of projects from a wide variety of designers. Vintage Modern Crochet covers 5 crochet techniques. The chapter titles are  Pineapple Lace, Bruges Lace, Filet Lace, Irish Lace and Tunisian Crochet. Each technique is explained at the beginning of each chapter and includes helpful tips in the patterns. There are even charts for those of us who are more visual!

Now for a bit of eye candy!

I love the Kidwell Garden Wrap by Shelby Allaho The tassels are a fun and creative twist on her wrap.

The Bromelia Infinity Scarf by Moon Eldridge would be the perfect accessory for mild weather months. You can add a pop of color without the added warmth.

Mary Jane Hall is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and I was thrilled to review her newest book Colorful Crochet Lace. It's a beautiful collection of 22 projects for every skill level. She has even included a few with her graduated stitch method.  Mary Jane developed this technique to easily shape garments without increases or decreases. It's truly brilliant!

My very favorite pattern from her new book is her Au Naturel Cropped Top.

Thoughts On Copyrights

I admit I never intended to cover such a heavy topic on my blog, but after finding that my patterns have been ripped off, it's time to speak out. If you know a pattern or book is being sold and you find it for free as a download, please don't do it. It's stealing plain and simple. I have never authorized anyone to sell my indie patterns or share my book -- and yet it's being done.

If the stealing continues there will be no more books or magazines. Why bother when they are stolen and given away for free right after they go to press? It's a loss our industry can't sustain. That's why there are so few fiber related magazines now. It hurts them as much as it does the indie designer.

For those of you who come across my blog and have already downloaded my stolen patterns, I hope you realize they probably came with malware or spyware. Your computer and possibly your identity are now at risk. Was it really worth it?

I do have several free patterns out there on Red Heart and Yarnspirations. Please respect my rights and use those if you want free patterns.

For those of you who have purchased my patterns and book, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I really appreciate that you love and support the designers who work so hard to bring you the most innovative and creative designs we can.

Continiuous Crochet

Kristin Omdahl helps demystify top down construction also know as raglan shaping. It's a lovely way to make items without a lot of seaming and you can usually try your piece on as you make it! That's always a bonus in my book!

Kristin starts us out with smaller projects, cowls in fact, to get us used to the idea of raglan shaping. Starting with smaller projects is a great way to wrap your mind around where the increases need to be made for all raglan projects.

My favorite project is African Violets Raglan Caplet.

As you can see, it clearly shows where the increases will go for raglan shaping. This caplet is a wonderful teaching tool and beautiful to boot!
