Crochet Cyber Cafe Update

For now Crochet Cyber Cafe has ended. It was fun chatting with so many of you! The frustration of trying to get Google Hangout to work just got to be too much. Last week I was unable to send out any invitations and many of you know we were frequently knocked out of the Hangout.

Thank you to those of you who joined me in the adventure! It was wonderful getting to spend time with you!

Pebble Creek Mitts

Who else can't believe it's spring? To celebrate I have posted a new pattern in my Craftsy store. My Pebble Creek Mitts are the perfect accompaniment to my Pebble Creek Infinity Scarf. They are quick to crochet stash busters, too!

Crochet As Art

This morning I was trying to come up with a topic for the newsletter and got side tracked by all the crochet I found on Google. One artist in particular caught my eye. Ruth Asawa was an amazing artist who created sculptures out of crocheted wire!

Ruth passed away last year at the age of 87 - I wish I could have met her! What an inspiring woman she was. I admit crocheting is probably the last thing I would think of when looking at wire. I hate working with rough yarn - maybe I need to rethink my own approach.

The fluid beauty of her sculptures is mesmerizing, These are just a few of her creations - to learn more about Ruth you can visit this site dedicated to her. I hope you are as inspired as I am.

Crochet Wraps Every Which Way

Sometimes you meet someone that changes the direction of your life. They bring new ideas and new friendships into your life that you wouldn't have otherwise. Tammy Hildebrand is that person for me.

We met through Ravelry - she had a gorgeous (of course!) jacket that I really wanted to make but needed help. I messaged her and our friendship really took off! That was many years ago and I still really value her friendship. She encouraged me as a designer and involved me in volunteering for the CGOA.

Tammy is the kind of designer we all aspire to become. She can pick up a hook and magic happens! She doesn't plot and plan - she just creates! What a amazing gift to be blessed with! "Crochet Wraps Every Which Way" is the result of that gift! It's a beautiful book you don't want to miss out on!

Her Chica Mala Shawl is my favorite design in her lovely book!

And I love her Purple Passion!

Her Irish Jig is stunning!

Merry Christmas!

This past year has been a bit slow for me. Many of you know I really messed up my shoulder in June and it has been a very long road to recovery. It made it darn hard to design anything medicated. The math is hard enough without it! :-)

I am finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel! I am making good progress on healing and if I continue to heal can avoid surgery. What a blessing, indeed! I will know in a few months for sure. Prayers appreciated!

On the flip side, although design opportunities have slowed (you don't work if you don't submit), I've been blessed with other opportunities that I can't wait to share with you! Just a few more weeks before I can tell!

In the mean time, I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a very Blessed New Year!
