Cabled Bag! Oh, My!

I love cables - I learned to knit just so I could make cables and socks. I took what I learned in knitting and transferred it to crochet. It's really not that hard once you understand which way the stitches need to slant. It does make for a chunky project - but what fun!

This bag is one of my favorite designs by far! The cables are enjoyable to make and the results are really lovely! Why not give it a try today?

Finally Crochet Time!

I can't believe I haven't crocheted for a month! So many knitting opportunities opened up - I just had no time!

Today, I finished my last knitted design that needs to be shipped out ASAP and find I finally a some down time.  What am I going to work on? Something to wear to the Chain Link Conference in July!

So far, I've managed to finish my design competition entry - now it's time to make things to wear. If I work on these things whenever I have a little down time I find I am all ready to go when the conference gets here.

I like to make mostly wearables - tops in particular. They are lots of fun to work on and I love being able to make something in my size (most designs have to be made in size small). Picking out colors that I love is pretty awesome too!

If you don't wait till the last minute getting ready for our next conference can be a lot of fun!

Pinterst

I held out as long as possible...but eventually got sucked in.  I think it could turn out to be a huge design tool, provided I can keep from it from being a huge time waster.  I tend to lose track of time when looking at pretties.

My plan is to pin a few items every few days and then go back and review some of the things I've pinned. My favorites are the just plain colorful photos - I don't really care what the subject is as long as the colors are vibrant. Vibrancy really seems to be key to my own creativity.

I also really enjoy the ability to check out fashion trends. It's always fun to see how other people like to switch things up to put their own twist on the ordinary. Sometimes you wonder why you never thought of doing it that way. I love those moments. They stretch my thinking and do change the way I approach the way I view things.

All in all, I think Pinterest will turn out to be a good thing - just so long as I can keep my time on there under control!
